Art Literacy (Art Lit) is a volunteer-led program that introduces students to great artists, artistic styles, and cultures from around the world. Through engaging presentations and hands-on art projects, students learn to observe, create, think critically, and express themselves in new ways. Art Literacy helps foster creativity, problem-solving, cultural awareness, and confidence while making art accessible and fun for every student. 🎨✨
We believe Art Literacy:
Encourages creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills that students will use throughout their lives.
Helps students develop observation skills that are valuable in science, medicine, writing, and many other fields.
Inspires imagination and innovation by encouraging students to visualize and explore new ideas.
Celebrates diverse cultures, perspectives, and artistic traditions from around the world.
Connects students to history, heritage, and the shared human experience through art.
Provides opportunities for self-expression and helps students discover that there are many ways to see and interpret the world around them.
No art experience? No problem! Art Literacy is designed for parent and community volunteers.
As an Art Lit volunteer, you will:
Present a prepared lesson to your child's class.
Lead or assist with a fun, hands-on art project.
Receive all lesson materials and project supplies from the Art Literacy team.
Spend approximately one hour per lesson and classroom time.
Help make art education memorable and meaningful for Hazeldale students.
More than one volunteer per class is always appreciated, so consider teaming up with another parent or signing up as an assistant. It's a fun and rewarding way to connect with your child's classroom while helping inspire creativity in our students! 🎨✨
